Daodejing

Ho Lok Sang in his translation of Dao De Jing noted this “….the Chinese language is such that one word can carry multiple meanings, it is easy to be misled. But Laozi never worried about this problem, because after all the insight has to come from within. So he is sure that those who sincerely seek the truth will see the truth….”

In his preface he wrote “In the same way, Laozi (often spelled as Lao-Tzu), who wrote the Daodejing, tried to describe the indescribable. The truth about the human mind, and about the universal mind, cannot be sought from without. It must be sought from within us. This understanding is a gift, and is not acquired. Indeed, those who try to seek that truth from without are bound to fail. Indeed, we need to unlearn to rediscover the gift.” This I concur with him.

I believe the same applies to Feng Shui. This is why a Lineage is important if one is serious about learning the art.Chinese usually write in poem form. In poem, the sentence are shorten. They are meant to be expanded orally by the teacher. It’s just like zipping the file and unzipping it back later. You may think of it as ancient way of encrypting a knowledge.

What made it more difficult is that Chinese character carries multiple meaning. Just like the word Fang 方。 It can mean direction and also location. So when does it mean direction and when it means location?

Is there such thing as Feng Shui Wealth Corner?

I was once asked by a client, “Master, where is my house wealth corner, so I may locate my desk? In fact he asked me a few times because he was surprised, I did not do what the following video.

Digi did a very good advertisement for the year’s Chinese New Year that captured the hearts of many. In this commercial the “master” shouted “Wong Wai” which means wealth corner but in Chinese “Wong” 旺 as in prosperity has the close pronunciation as Yellow 黄.

It’s a fallacy of modern Feng Shui. Folks tend to think that Feng Shui master has magical pair of eyes that can see energy. I’m not a ghost buster. These are just good show man ship to make one feel better in parting with their money for the fake feng shui master a.k.a Jiang Hu or Folklore masters.

The Feng Shui of Cheong Fatt Tze Blue Mansion

Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion or better known as Blue Mansion because of it’s very unique color of the building is located along Leith Street in Penang.

This mansion was built by one of the richest man at that time and was owned by Mr Cheong Fatt Tze also known as the Rockefella of the East.

There are many articles on the feng shui of this mansion and many masters likes to visit this place with their students. Indeed it was build with inputs from a feng shui master and likely a San He 三合 / Yang Gong 杨公风水 Master. This is evident from the Luopan that was left in the mansion.

Note: San He and Yang Gong name is synonymous.

This magnificent mansion was Sitting Qian 乾山 Facing Xun 巽向 with mountain behind while facing the sea. As a result, after staying in this mansion, the family descendants ended up having no money and sadly his legacy ended with Cheong Fatt Tze’s demise on 11 Sept 1916. WHY ? HOW COME ?….Wait read on first.

Seems it was feng Shuied and likey using San He / Yang Gong system from the luopan found in the Blue Mansion.

House Facing, Fundamentally Difficult ?

One of the pre-requisite for a Feng shui consultancy job is to determine the Facing of a property. Most Feng shui formula requires to first to establish this unless one follows the Black Hat School.

Different schools uses different criteria to establish this but they all agree on this same criteria and that is the Yang Side. Yang here means the opposite of Yin.

Yang can be defined as Brightness, Man is Yang, Noise, Light, Movement and so forth.

Yin on the other hand is the opposite thus it means Darkness, Female, Silence, Heavy, Stillness and so forth.

The difference between schools of Feng shui is the individual interpretation of which side of the building is considered the Most Yang. Some schools may add a few sub criteria to further define Yang.

Feng Shui Book – Winds of Change

Here’s a recently co-published a Feng Shui book titled Winds of Change – Myth and Truth in Feng Shui and Bazi. This book is co-authored with Mr Au Yong Chee Tuck.

This book is divided into two parts. The first part is on the subject of Feng Shui which was authored by Alan while the other is on BaZi or Chinese Astrology written by AuYong.

The objective of publishing this book is because Feng Shui has after more than 20 years of extensive exposure, taking a turn to many disappointed consumers as well as students. Thus this book is published with one single primary objective and that is to help consumers and students distinguished what is feng shui and what are just cultural beliefs or made to belief by certain individuals.

The book starts off with the Feng Shui Section.

Flying Star Feng Shui methodology takes the charge in this book. Flying Star Feng Shui is one of the most powerful feng shui method for Yang Feng Shui or Living Feng Shui. This chapter briefly explains the fundamental concepts of Flying Star system such as the 9 stars of the North Ladle, namely Tan Lang, Ju Men, Lu Cun etc. It also defines what is Feng Shui by fulfilling certain criteria.

Then there are few chapters on real life cases that exists today in Malaysia. These include Apartment or High rise building feng shui, A temple that lasted more than 150 years, A mall that is struggling, a bustling hotel and how a baker after renovation did not experience the same good business as before. Inside the famous Feng Shui Book, “The secret codes of Yuen Hung 玄空秘旨”, starts from the beginning, it said, “Without knowing the source, it doesn’t know where to get into, all the trigrams inside the chart are wrong不知來路，焉知入路，盤中八卦皆空。”

It is a very important reminder to tell us, “How to start?”, but most of the people are overlooking this sentence or limits it only in forming a Feng Shui Chart.
In fact, the writer truly gave us a key, “knowing the source!”, when we start learning Feng Shui from someone, we need to know where his knowledge coming from? If their knowledge is coming from books or internet, then you need to be alert, who knows his information are correct or wrong?
If they could teach themselves from books or internet, why you can’t do that the same instead of paying that much of money to learn from them?
If their knowledge is coming from lineage, check with his lineage and research his Feng Shui jobs before you learn from them.
Although you do what I advice, it doesn’t guarantee that you will find a true master but at least it can be avoid the fake master.

The Art of Door Tilting

I was at an Apartment recently after receiving a call from a client. As I reach the apartment I saw the door was at an angle or Tilted.

I continued with the Feng Shui Consultation. So I asked the owner when he engaged the Feng Shui consultant to audit his house. He told me was back in 2008. Thus I said to him, I doubt there are much changes after the audit. He reluctantly agreed with me. Then I further said, in fact the problem would have persisted. Again he agreed with me.

Today door tilting seems to be fashion ever since Venerable Hong Chuan did the Hyatt Hotel way back in 1973. Master Hong Chuan did a door tilt which resulted in the improvement of the hotel’s occupancy rate. So now every school from the San He boys, to the 8 Mansion practitioners, the Xuan Kong Da Gua guys are all doing it according to their theory. That’s fine if they get it right & backed by proven theories and practices.

A Good Day – XKDG Date Selection

I was once doing Sheng Ji a.k.a. life grave on a selected good date, it was rather surprising that the day was dry and shining where as nearby districts are having rain for the duration of the work which lasted 3 days since that was the rainy season in Malaysia. The work was smooth and completed without hiccups.

There were scent smell of peppermint blown in by the gentle breeze from the jungle hills and a big grasshopper stopped by almost like saying hello. It was scorching 42 degrees Celsius but heaven is kind by keeping us cool with the scented breeze. Everybody did not fall sick.

Business Feng Shui Review: One City USJ

Its been awhile since I have touch on the subject of feng shui review since my last article on Bangsar Village 2. This article centers around a new development by a seasoned developer in Malaysia. Since opening around end of 2013, today the mall had many of their outlets and retail closed.

Why is this happening to this beautiful development? What does the business feng shui review reveals?

At the time of this posting, the management is trying to boost traffic by offering Big Bad Wolf book sale event on one of the newly open SOHO building behind.
