The Dao Of Feng Shui

Studying Chinese metaphysics subjects without understanding the philosophy behind it only makes us hollow in life that only lead a person to a satanic path. Thus why the saying goes Success Without Fulfillment. Many people may appear successful but deep inside its hollow.

I found this posting which I find it meaningful from A friend, Raymmnd Goh and let me share with you the posting and how it is relevant in the study of Feng Shui. 

1) “做人要像铜钱一样，外圆内方”
– Zuò Rén Yaò Xiàng Tóng Qián Yí Yàng ，Waì Yuán Neì Fāng
– A person must be like ancient Chinese old copper coin, inside square (upright) and outside round (tactful).

( In the old days of ancient China, Chinese coins has a square hole inside and round on the outside but today most coins if not all are only Round. Square represents the people. Thus a person must be upright in their character or mind(inside) while at the same time we must be tactful and flexible when dealing with people (outside).

It is not different in today’s Feng Shui world, most looks promising or motivating on the outside but hollow inside. Hollow in both substance & virtues. Using scare tactics, selling untested or fake knowledge, giving false hopes or even “attacking” own students in fear of business rivalry.

I have heard of masters who takes a large fees from students but in some parts deliberately mislead to safe guard the real knowledge for their future heir.

Of course such information will never appear in their Facebook or Websites. What ever we do should be upright at least in our hearts first. Thus to be in this industry, it is important to cultivate the right views and understanding on the importance of the impact of our work to the lives of others, then we may find success with fulfillment. It is not about our personal ego or for the glamour of the job but rather to be responsible for our advises. Surely, we are not god thus we do not need to play god like be able to help all in this world or knows all but rather believe we can help someone at least and same time do not harm others because of our wrong advises.

There are many practitioners who have left the industry as far as for the ones I know for various reason but mostly unknown reason. I salute some of them for their courage and honesty.

A Different Taste

I was watching a cooking program the other day and the two hosts was to learn a “grandma” recipe from a household lady and under a supervision from a chef.

Then at the end of the program the two hosts will use the same recipe they have just observed and same ingredients prepared from by the TV program show unit to cook the same. The judgement will be delivered by the recipe holder and her family members as to which host will have the closest taste to the their usual taste.

In this program when the verdict was delivered, it seems that one had the rice a little too saltish, the other did not have the aromatic flavor in the curry etc.

Doesn’t it sound like an irony? same recipe, same ingredient, same cooking environment and similar equipment or tools. The only or likely difference is the cook! Why am I mentioning this?

Can You Learn Authentic Feng Shui From Books?

What does it mean 七子去六子回？(translated as 7 sons go 6 sons return)

Initially the mother thought one of the seven sons would die after consulting the oracle… but ended up only the 6th son survived..All other sons didn’t make it back alive according to Yang Family of Warriors Story 杨家将, an ancient Chinese warrior family during the Song Dynasty.

They are famous for their loyalty and bravery. Once their father was captured by the enemy and thus the sons wanted to go save the father. The mother was rather worried and thus seek a sage for an oracle. The sage gave the mother an advice that 七子去六子回？(translated as 7 sons go 6 son return) .

Upon reading this oracle, the mother was in some way relieved that one son will likely not make it and thus told the brothers to look after each other well.

The outcome came was that only the 6th son survived and the rest was killed in the operation to save the dad.

Chinese language is very unique as the same phrase can mean 2 different meaning. so it is the same in today’s Feng shui industry. Many teachers did not inherit the skills from a lineage master, they are mostly self learn from books or create solutions based on self imagination.

Chinese texts books in Feng shui are pretty much in poem or phrases that can have few meanings So without the rightful master to explain, no one can know the real meaning behind. Thus you probably have the answer by now why the feng shui field is so full of variations. The simple reason is

Sheng Ji (Life Grave) Gone Wrong

Since Feng shui was commercialized in the late 90s many people have jumped on the band wagon of Feng Shui courses paying 50 to 100 thousands to learn courses after courses of Feng shui while hoping from schools to schools to seek the eventual truth they all been hoping for. Some have found it but most has not, sadly.

The Feng Shui Master

What was their objectives? To be a Feng Shui master? However many of them are already rich and can afford the huge sums of fees, so why wanna be a Feng Shui master?

Perhaps it was going to be hobby use for finding lost items or misplaced items?.

The journey of a good Feng Shui master is not all as rosy as what you see. It involves a lot of study, research and years of time to understand the meanings of the classics and teachings.

If you believe Feng Shui can change a person’s destiny, what makes one thinks that it is a easy job which can be mastered within a few days of lessons?

However the first step to being a true master of Feng Shui is to acquire the RIGHT knowledge. If this first step is wrong, forget about the next. With so many theories at large, how do you know which one works, which case that coincidentally works or which one is a fake theory?

We know it is not easy for a lay person to find out. Let me share you this real story of a case where Master Alan has helped rectified a faulty Sheng Ji.

Of late, there is a growing trend of Live Grave or known as Sheng Ji 生基. This method is a valid method based on the theory of Yin (Grave) Feng Shui & thus if done correctly, it can benefit people with good health, wealth, descendants luck etc. You may read our previous blog post of a real Sheng Ji Case.

The Sheng Ji Feng Shui was popularized by a leading memorial park here in Malaysia. Soon many other companies offer this services all over Malaysia because it has been promoted to be a highly potent Feng Shui solution. Is this the case ?

A Feng Shui Journey

It was back in July 2017 when this student of mine made a journey from the other side of the world, flying more than 20 hours just to be here to learn or rather relearn Feng Shui.

The Online Feng Shui Course

It was an online Feng Shui course that kicked off the journey after meeting disappointment in life. With the hope of improving life this student embarked on an online simply because its easily accessible. But how can one learn real feng shui skills online? Feng shui is a hands on skills not just theory.

Being green in this field, soon the marketing prowess and a promise of lineage knowledge got this student no where except anxiety. I call it Feng Shui Paranoiacs.

Realizing this quick, the student believe this online course will not elevate the skills sets, the student found another more senior teacher back in North America.

The Senior Mentor

This senior mentor has the age factor apart from “good credentials ” having learn from 2 famous masters here in Malaysia. One a Gen 艮 master the other a Qian 乾 Master. Both masters does have substantial weights under their belts, each in their own way and has a large numbers of fans cum students behind them. The type of students that would believe that the mere smell of the masters would always elevate their souls! So you can imagine for yourself the type of fans/students they have.

The student journey under this senior mentor wasn’t rosy either. 2 of the student’s property was Feng Shui by the senior mentor but didn’t yield results. However at that time, this student didn’t suspect anything amiss even though things wasn’t smooth because the rationale was “How could my master of such and such credentials and fame makes mistake, it cannot be!?”

The student couldn’t get a new job after leaving the last one, children was also down with sickness rather frequently. Nothing seems to be going well but the senior mentor reckon that property was having “good Feng Shui”.

The Second Intuition

Due to the student own constant predicament, something must be not right. Surfing the Internet again, this student stumbled upon my website and after reading decided to drop me some questions. Castle Gate Theory Part 2

Coming back to the story from Part 1, the owner decided to ask me help look for a new premise. We surveyed the area for a while and there were few choices but wasn’t very good. Why this first step is so important? Listen to this video.

Then we chanced upon an empty lot which was a laundry business that went bust. So my client was rather apprehensive since the last owner did not make it, would it be wise for her to trust my advice to take up this unit?

She decided to take that leap of faith and decided to rent the shop as per my advice. After I studied the formation surrounding this property, I selected the perfect formation that would be great for both Wealth as well as Human Factor.

Following my advice, she did everything I asked her to do to the tee, from the doors, tables, sitting position etc.

It was in end of February 2018 they moved into the shop according to the auspicious date but they only started business there full force after March 2018. April went by, May was the Malaysia 14th General Elections where Malaysia saw a change in government for the first time since independence, which is about 61 years.

Feng Shui Paranoia

In this new age Feng Shui era, many has turned to Feng shui as form of luck booster. thus in the process many fake knowledge has creep-ed into this noble ancient art making many newbies live in fear and soon this fear turned into a paranoia.

How has this evolved? Feng Shui has been a highly guarded secret in the past and to a some extent it is still today although some masters boasted that they can buy these secrets. So most people in the past hear about Feng Shui and what it can do but have not the slighted idea of it. In order to make living out if this, they claim that they know feng shui and introduced many forms into the feng shui. Their source mainly came from cultural beliefs, some religious belief, Daoist mainly and partly own’s imagination to create a “logical” answer.

To add salt to the wound, some modern practitioners with their poor understanding of Feng shui became the new bogeyman by creating more fears into the unsuspecting online readers. I will quote a few common examples.

1. They call Sha Qi as Killing Qi but the fact is that Sha Qi is just a destructive Qi and not Killing! It’s just a sign of negative energy in the house. A poor understanding of Feng Shui terms creates unnecessary fears in the mind of the common people.

2. Electrical Pylons are called Sha Qi because its pointed. So how does being point is bad? Please explain to me. Of course if you stay too near to it , there is always a risk of accidents but again, how does the small magnetic field is going to kill you and what more if you stay say 1km away ? They just create fears due to their poor knowledge of Feng Shui.

3. Gushing waters are Sha Qi such as Cutting Feet Sha or Pulling Nose Sha. Then dirty water is worse than clean water! How does the Qi differentiates dirty or clean? It may LOOK dirty to you but is it so to the Feng Shui? It may cause faulty smells which creates living discomfort and that is the exact logic they will use to say its Bad Qi! Castle Gate Theory Part 1

Castle gate theory 城门诀 is one of the most sought mystery in a Feng Shui. Many practitioners are still not familiar with the usage and application. There are even books written on this subject alone! However, there are many versions of Castle Gate Theory. However, the version I will be writing is the San Yuan Xuan Kong Flying Star version.

In order to understand this theory we should first understand : What is a Castle Gate 城门? Below picture is the Castle Gate.

This brings me to a case done early of this year. Its a true story I think it’s worth sharing. My client had an old office which I audited last year. That office was having bad feng shui and the previous master couldn’t identify the issue. Of course the master could not understand because even though he is an old master, he came without a Luopan or Chinese Geomancy compass.

He uses a technique based on Yi Jing Feng Shui called the Xing Fa 形法 or literally translate to English as the Shape Method. This method is to take a view of surrounding and conclude the good and bad of feng shui. Some of the method he used was like hanging of paintings of Mountain and Waters. Then there was the famous Wealth Corner technique. A common taboos of feng shui are all include in this method such as your main door should not see another door or room, where to place pots of plants outside your house etc. In the western market, this technique is know as Internal Landforms Feng Shui. A New Feng Shui Era

When I was writing my first book back in 2016, I was asked to suggest a book title and it took me a while before I arrived at WINDS OF CHANGE which was then accepted by my co author.

Why this title, you may think.

First of all, we felt that there will be a change in government in Malaysia if the elections were to be held in 2018 although it seems almost impossible back then and the reason was with the good luck cycle of PM Najib that will end in 2018. However, this is the past fact.

Secondly there will be a change in the Feng Shui world from as early as 2019 to about 2029.

Phase one will begin the beginning of the slide in 2017 but the more significant change will be felt more in 2019-2021. There will be a major change in the Feng Shui scene due to this event. However, still there will many new Feng Shui  consultants sprouting out from then till we enter Period of Nine which starts from 2024.

The second phase of change will start in 2024 for about 5-6 years. The reason is due to the wrong knowledge of Feng shui that thrived for the last 20 years. Period of 8 is something many got away with this fault, perhaps due to the times of what I call a phenomena of “coincidental feng shui”. Continue reading “A New Feng Shui Era”
