Helicopter Feng Shui

Once, I was invited to Feng Shui consultation for a friend’s newly bought apartment in Clementi Singapore. The wife is a Feng Shui Skeptic and he wasn’t a ardent believer too. Anyway, since it was a trend so he engaged me for this consultation.

At the ground floor, I told my client there is hill in front far away behind the building block. He said it can’t be. “How do you know? I cannot even see it”. So I said, if you are interested let’s take a lift up to 12th floor and let’s find out.

He agreed and we went up to 12th floor. Indeed there is a hill in front behind the building in front. He asked me how I know since I am not a Singaporean and this is my first trip here.

Well there is a way to identify land forms and that is how ancient masters do it. No need to hire helicopter to survey dragons. Just a publicity gimmick for the inexperienced layman or that master surely doesn’t know how to see land forms.

No hard feelings but that is the fact!

Next time, I will write something about city landforms or landforms for the dwellings and landforms for the Yin Feng Shui. Stay tuned!

Lo Shu – The Miracle Tortoise?

What is so interesting about the Lo Shu (洛書)?

Lo Shu has an interesting role in feng shui and in particular Flying Star Feng Shui and has always given Feng Shui a mystical touch in the way it was presented by most books and school teaching feng shui.

There are few versions of story of it.

Forms and Formula…Which is What?

I often get his question from fellow practitioners, students and public which one comes first or which is more important.

Forms here means the formation of water and mountains. so in simple terms the geographical terrain and so in modern terms roads and buildings. The essence of it is to know how Qi moves and where is the vibrant area.

landform    VS    NATAL CHART

Formula refers to what is being measured by the Lou Pan or the Feng Shui Compass. How the result is largely dependent on which school of Feng shui is the master from and from there the Feng shui master decipher the reading. There are only a handful of orthodox Feng shui schools but within each school there are hundreds of variations or versions but never mind that for now.

On the other hand, formula tells the master what kind of Qi is in the house. Some practitioner puts less emphasis on forms but more on formula because formula give faster felt effect or visible result to the clients.  Well this is the age of instant noodles right? Everything has to be fast..fast…fast….However, this is not what I believe and I would like to share with you a saying I once read:”Life is like sex, if you want a good ending, don’t rush.”

Those who champion forms argues that without forms no Feng shui can be strong or lasting and without form how can Sheng Qi(beneficial qi) be tapped. This is what a famous celebrity master teaches.

Essentially he is saying that Flying Star is used for internal of a house while it has to be supported by San He land forms outside. All I can say this is just pure marketing or he is not familiar with Feng Shui. San He is San He, Flying Star is San Yuan. Perhaps his study have not reach the required depth in San Yuan.

The truth is in using them in harmony. Formula tells us what is likely to happen in the house after we know what Qi is present in the house and then the effect on the people living in it. Forms tells us when and how good or bad is going to be. This is what San Yuan advocates.

Forms have strong and lasting effects and formulas tells us the remedy that is necessary to harmonized the house with the dwellers. So one must understand the implication of how forms can benefit the house and in what way (told by the formulas). One can also use the 81 combinations as part of the formulas for diagnosis purposes.

No need to argue which is more superior, you just need both to get it right, at the right dosage!. The only difference is Forms you cannot change it or more difficult but formulas, yes you may change the configuration of the house and you can change the Qi in the house which is much easier to achieve. This is the goal of Taiji, harmony in Yin Yang. Is this not what Feng Shui is about?

The Existence Of 2 Flying Star Schools

Many think that there is only one knowledge of Flying Star. This happens primarily it has been propagated by Celebrity Masters to be this way. The fact remains Flying Star is more than what they have told you.

To explain the 2 schools of Flying Star that is prevailing today, first we have to go back to the beginning how it all come about.

The fact that only in the Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1911) to be revealed this secret means that many people believe that the Xuan Kong Feng Shui is a relatively new technique but the concept of flying star existed way back in the Yuan Dynasty. It was sighted in a ancient calendar (almanac) from Yuan Dynasty. Perhaps it existed much earlier!

Chinese Dynasty

In 1873, Shen-Zhu Ren, a rich businessman went to the city of Wu-Xi in Jiangsu to learn from Zhang Zhong Shan but Zhang Zhong Shan refused to teach Shen because he is not a family relative.

After a while Shen Zhu Ren offered to pay a lot of money to the relative of Zhang, to view the manuscript which contained explanations and experiences of teacher Zhang Zhong Shan.

After he have paid a large sum of money, Shen Zhu Ren was given permission to view the manuscript for only 2 days, after which it was meant to return the book.

He secretly he copied the manuscript and for many years after he tried to understand what he had copied without getting great results initially.

When he thought he had found some answers via his own understanding and 2-3 years of experimenting with houses and he began to tie the dots together with his son and published their findings in the book called Shen Shi Xuan Kong Xue.(Shen way of Xuan Kong Study) or in Chinese 沈氏玄空學.

This book made Flying Star accessible to the public. In fact in the early nineties in Hong Kong not many masters even know Flying Stars. Mostly they were practicing either the 8 Mansion, San He or Jiang Hu styled Feng Shui.

Shen has brought to the world of Feng Shui an opportunity for lay people to learn the highly effective Flying Star Feng Shui. Many modern masters without lineage has used this book as reference and followed the foot steps of Shen i.e. reading, deducing the meaning themselves and experimented here and there and later roll out to teach courses and give consultation. In fact more than 90% of the source of flying star outside today is from Shen.

He also has done harm at the same time to mankind as well to Feng Shui community…to be continued

Personal Feng Shui

What is personal feng shui or is there such thing as one?

I believe in Feng Shui and that it really works but it is not magic. Why? Magic works instantly where as Feng Shui takes time to accumulate and timing to show it’s effect.

Feng Shui can be divided into Yang Feng Shui or Feng Shui of the House and Yin Feng Shui or Feng Shui of the deceased. Which ever it is, the work on the same principal of location, direction and timing.

Now you see this 3rd term call Personal Feng Shui. What am I trying to get the message across?

Many times during consultation I have encountered these and I am sure you will too experience some of them.

Fengshuiitems

1. They buy something and wear and it works!

2. They hang up a picture or number plaque and it works!

3. Activate with a flower at certain sector of the house and it works!

4. You have a bazi consultation and no matter what the person seems not to listen or keeping some facts away from you.

5. After a lengthy conversation you find the person is full of negative energy that really drains you even though sincerely you try to motivate this person.

6. After a consultation the master says that wearing Red will prosper him and after wearing red for a while, things seems to go smoother.

What many does not know or realize it is the power of the mind that was working in the background. Though it is not directly linked to Qi but still it is a form of energy. I believe it works or blend well into metaphysics.

Believe me or not, con man does a fantastic job at this level and so as top sales person. It the same skill or energy but applied with different intentions.

So if it works on the positive side of the mind, then things works! and when this energy is stuck with a negative person, this person always wonder why their life sucks and always filled with bad luck. What they did not realized is that they possesses the negative mind energy. As long they carry this negative energy they will always be bad luck.

Coming back to the situation where Feng Shui goodies that works, sadly, if you follow them long enough, those “it works!” is usually a short term thing because the strength came from the mind and not really a feng shui job. Still many like to link it to feng shui and hence coined it Symbolic Feng Shui.

The fundamental mechanism working behind is called the Law of Attraction. Have you ever heard of the book called “The Secret” ? What your mind attracts is what you get! If you think this ring is going to prosper you, you are actually sending positive vibes out so you get positive things back but the catch is, it works for as long as you think in this way. The day you start doubting that ring’s effectiveness, then the effect no longer stays.

I still remember a story Master Leyau told me before about Shao Yung an ancient YiJing Master, which demonstrates that the Law of Attraction already exists even back then!

Feng Shui usually works slowly and for long term, regardless whether you believe or not, it will happen. The only question is “Will you notice it or otherwise?”.

Don’t easily believe that putting things works, it is just the good work of our mind. Nonetheless, always stay positive for you will attract positive things.

The Buddha said:

It is wrong to think that misfortunes come from the east or from the west; they originate within one’s own mind. Therefore, it is foolish to guard against misfortunes from the external world and leave the inner mind uncontrolled.

I hope you take home some Personal Feng Shui tips today! If you agree, please like my post.

First and foremost, I would like to thank Alan for teaching me Flying Star Feng Shui. I started off with zero knowledge of Feng Shui but after 4 days, I can plot Flying Star charts now and apply it into my own room and house ! …
Out there, the are plenty of different Feng Shui Schools but I would definitely recommend CAFS as the starting ground to learn the right way in applying Flying Star Feng Shui because Alan really spent time in explain the logic and reasoning behind certain principles of Feng Shui which other Feng Shui masters would most likely leave you hanging.
The last day of the course, we visited 3 places (1 Apartment, 1 House and 1 Shopping Mall) and it was great to see how theories of Feng Shui can be translated into practice. Most importantly, Alan also taught me how to use the lou pan correctly, when I had troubles finding the Facing and Sitting of the house and also on holding the lou pan correctly (lol).
All in all, I am glad that I took part with course and I am looking forward to the other classes 😉

Testimonial From Students…

Another feedback from student – Victoria Karakuts, Ukraine

From the bottom of my heart I wish to thank the Master Francis Leyau for all that he did for us. He was able to not only invest in our own unique knowledge and experience, but also to give us a piece of your heart for a while making your house – our house surrounded us truly warmth and fatherly care. While in his house do you feel it is not just a student, and part of his family, a part of his life.
A bonus to courses on the Yin Feng Shui, San Yuan Qi Men and Er Zhai (Advance Flying Star) was still learning to be human, to be the right person to be worthy of the knowledge gained.

Special thanks to Master for his pupil and partner Oksana !
Fundamentals, which she laid us did a course Masters much simpler and clearer.
It is precisely because of her enthusiasm and superb organizational skills Knowledge of Malaysia are far closer to the Russian expanses.
You are a good master and will always remain in my heart and soul!

the one who does not understand – must visit! ”

From Russia with Thanks – Svenlana Grigoryants
Qi Men Dun Jia – San Yuan & Yin ZhaiSvenlana Grigoryants (S)

It is my deep conviction that this course is unique simply because …
First, it is in itself a discovery that in addition to the system Qi Men Dun Jia, which we have long been studying pertaining to school San He, there is also the Qi Men Dun Jia School of San Yuan. I think it is for this discovery – for the fact that your understanding of Qi Men Dun Jia admitted another coordinate system, and your world is suddenly out of a flat two-dimensional, it can be said Master deepest thanks! This realization is a struggle. About as well as to believe in the existence of your antipodes on the other end of the planet: like you understand that they too exist, but it’s hard to keep in mind both.

Second, the wizard guides you through all the complexity and “pitfalls” of awareness of the new system of Qi Men Dun Jia San Yuan available with clarity and simplicity. He even came up with his disciples convenient digital code that we all learned as a mantra.

Thirdly, it seems to me that to realize the value and depth obtained from the Master of this new unique knowledge we all need time. As for the good of good wine. Because those who used to refer to the practice of Qi Men Dun Jia consumer-as the method of choice in the direction of the desired day and the right time, Qi Men Dun Jia San Yuan seem still further icing on the cake, baked from formulas to select dates. In fact, all tested by practice, as is always the master. The practice of using this valuable new unique knowledge of San Yuan Qi less I think, is not just a kind word makes us think of our Master and say again – THANK YOU!

San Yuan Feng Shui 三元风水

After blogging a while, I guess I have not done an introduction of San Yuan Feng Shui to my readers. It is the school I am from apart from being part of Wu Chang lineage (无常流) & from Central Academy of Feng Shui. So here you go…

San Yuan (三元) Feng Shui is a school of Feng Shui which majors in subjects like Flying Star or Fei Xing, Xuan Kong Da Gua, Long Men Ba Ju water method, Xuan Kong Liu Fa and San Yuan Qi Men Dun Jia. The uniqueness of San Yuan is that they place great emphasis on Timing.

The other major school for Feng Shui is called the San He 三合 School. They have also many subjects such as 8 Mansion, San He Water Methods, Yang Gong Feng Shui which uses Landforms heavily and downplay the role of time factor.

Then there are other school of thoughts of Feng Shui such as 8 aspiration, symbolic schools, 9 Ki Star, Zi Wei Dou Shu, Bazi Feng Shui, Jiang Hu Pai etc…

What is so fascinating about San Yuan ? San Yuan is considered the younger brother because it existence to the public was much later compared to San He but San Yuan is the method that was used in the Imperial Courts. San He was used more by the commoners more when Masters like Yang Yu Song brought the art out of the palace.

San Yuan was popularized by Master Jiang Da Hong (蔣大鴻), who himself is San Yuan practitioner in the courts and he was taking care of the library during the last decades of Ming Dynasty. Later when he left the courts he brought this knowledge with him too. One of the famous Feng Shui Classics written by Jiang was Earth Discerning Truth Classic (Di Li Bian Zheng, 地理辨正)

Feng Shui during those days was a big thing especially to the Emperor as it is an art that can change/influence the fate of a person, family and country. Hence the art was pass down partially in book partially by oral teachings to those students who are in his opinion has the right qualities. I do not know all the qualities he was looking for but one of then is for sure, he has to be kind person because such art into the hands of wrong people, spells disaster to humanity and the dynasty too.

So what is San Yuan Feng Shui? San Yuan system is based on few basic important foundation. Timing, Location and Direction. The foundation of all these comes from Trigrams & Hexagrams which in any case was founded on Yi Jing (I-Ching).

San Yuan in its purest form only work from the 3 fundamental concepts that sits on the foundation of Yi Jing.

The system do not encourage putting things, no “internal house land forms”, no cultural rituals/belief, no talisman used etc.

The most popular of the San Yuan method today is the Flying Star or Fei Xing method. Flying Star that you know today has several versions due to mixing and changes done by individual master that mixed various methods in to make it unique for them  and to some more appealing to public perhaps.

The origin of Flying Star was from one source but in the early 20th Century it went separate ways. In my coming articles I will explain more.

Monthly Flying Star Chart 2013 Q2

Here is the Monthly Flying Star Chart for May, June, July 2013:

Monthly Star Q2 2013

A word of caution during the month of May any occupants with door in the SW sector has to be extra careful.

In June, East Doors or Rooms be careful of theft or your money.

July, people with high blood to shift out of room if you are sleeping in SE sector.

Proper layout of your house Feng Shui will reduce these effects in the long run so better Qi is captured.

However these are just general guidelines so as not to reveal too much WuChang Techniques.

Yin Zhai Feng Shui (陰宅凤水)

Yin Zhai or Burial Feng Shui is one of them most intriguing part of Feng Shui since all Feng Shui studies originate from here.

The most famous classic book of all times is the Book of Burial by Master Guo Pu of the Jin Dynasty.

The study of Yin Feng Shui is extensive but primarily is the study of land forms but all these study of land forms in the end is to explain 2 words and that is Feng Shui. Then from here the application portion has seen many schools practicing differently. There are masters from the San He school, San Yuan school and even masters using 8 Mansion and Bazi Feng Shui method to bury the deceased. Some even use symbolic method like building a lion on the grave. All of them emphasize different aspects of burial.

Example, how & where they place the Guardian God (后土) is different between San He and San Yuan schools.

It is in the Chinese culture as well in the practice of Feng Shui that if you bury the deceased in the right location and direction, the descendants can proper to have riches and power. If bury on the wrong land, accidents, poor health and jail terms can happen to the descendants  How true is it, to many folks remains a mystery but to those who have witness it’s results understands how it works.

I had the privilege to follow Master Francis Leyau in one of the recent class on Yin Zhai (April 2013) and undoubtedly there are many knowledge one must possess to be able to obtain the result of the burial. From land selection, finding the dragon, the neck, the head & the lair (穴) is indeed not easy. Just erecting the head stone alone, there are so many factors to take care and look into it.

It was interesting when Master Leyau explains how and why ancient Chinese built graves in this way as opposed to modern graves as shown on the photo on the right side which is square. There is a meaning based on the study of Feng Shui why round graves are preferred.

Traditional Grave vs Modern Grave

Here are some photos from the trip:

Yin Zhai

The Journey of Feng Shui is indeed like a journey of 1000 miles but if you find the right master you can cut your journey by half but you still have to walk 100 miles first to find the master. This is just a metaphor based on my experience. Feng shui is a subject that you need a real Master to guide and show you how to tie what is written in the Classics to actual practical. Only a master who has walked the distance can show you the right from wrong.

I considered my self lucky in this sense to have met and learnt from Master Leyau. I have seen so many people that have given up Feng shui because they have not been able to learnt the correct method and hence either did not get the results or half the time works and the other half don’t. Some after learning 10 years had to get other services to correct their Feng shui after their business failed. Isn’t it sad that they cannot even get their Feng Shui correct after spending all the years and money learning from their masters ?

This problem primarily comes from 2 major sources. One either the master is too young and had not done enough audits and practical work or they themselves read from the books or so called self studied masters. You can buy plenty of books cheaply in Hong Kong and Taiwan if you could read Chinese. The worst author are those who reads many books and compile them into a 3rd books. The source of knowledge is completely untraceable. This is very dangerous since they cannot tell what is right from wrong, they just assumed that their understanding of the classic is correct.
