Feng Shui

Forms and Formula…Which is What?

I often get his question from fellow practitioners, students and public which one comes first or which is more important.

Forms here means the formation of water and mountains. so in simple terms the geographical terrain and so in modern terms roads and buildings. The essence of it is to know how Qi moves and where is the vibrant area.

landform    VS    NATAL CHART

Formula refers to what is being measured by the Lou Pan or the Feng Shui Compass. How the result is largely dependent on which school of Feng shui is the master from and from there the Feng shui master decipher the reading. There are only a handful of orthodox Feng shui schools but within each school there are hundreds of variations or versions but never mind that for now.

On the other hand, formula tells the master what kind of Qi is in the house. Some practitioner puts less emphasis on forms but more on formula because formula give faster felt effect or visible result to the clients.  Well this is the age of instant noodles right? Everything has to be fast..fast…fast….However, this is not what I believe and I would like to share with you a saying I once read:”Life is like sex, if you want a good ending, don’t rush.”

Those who champion forms argues that without forms no Feng shui can be strong or lasting and without form how can Sheng Qi(beneficial qi) be tapped. This is what a famous celebrity master teaches.

Essentially he is saying that Flying Star is used for internal of a house while it has to be supported by San He land forms outside. All I can say this is just pure marketing or he is not familiar with Feng Shui. San He is San He, Flying Star is San Yuan. Perhaps his study have not reach the required depth in San Yuan.

The truth is in using them in harmony. Formula tells us what is likely to happen in the house after we know what Qi is present in the house and then the effect on the people living in it. Forms tells us when and how good or bad is going to be. This is what San Yuan advocates.

Forms have strong and lasting effects and formulas tells us the remedy that is necessary to harmonized the house with the dwellers. So one must understand the implication of how forms can benefit the house and in what way (told by the formulas). One can also use the 81 combinations as part of the formulas for diagnosis purposes.

No need to argue which is more superior, you just need both to get it right, at the right dosage!. The only difference is Forms you cannot change it or more difficult but formulas, yes you may change the configuration of the house and you can change the Qi in the house which is much easier to achieve. This is the goal of Taiji, harmony in Yin Yang. Is this not what Feng Shui is about?

Feng Shui

A verse from “Ba Zhai Tian Yuan Fu”

Jiang Da Hong says: “…if you want to know what is true in the 8 houses, you have to know the numbers in the 9 palaces…”.

This sentence alone we can learn a lot about flying star but in this article my intention is to only talk about the 2nd half of the sentence “know the numbers in the 9 palaces…”

What are the numbers in the 9 palaces?  What is the significance of the 9 numbers to feng shui? Is he referring the 9 to the 9 stars or 9 palaces?

I share my thoughts on this subject.

“…numbers in the 9 palaces..” means the 9 numbers in the 9 squares. Just like the diagram below:

To understand a house, we have to know the numbers in the 9 palaces. To know is to understand and be able to apply the knowledge of the numbers in the 9 palaces. With these 9 numbers & it’s combinations of numbers, one can tell the house well. If one does not know nor understand the significance of these 9 numbers in the 9 palaces then how can one tell the house? Perhaps, why some practitioners and students are frustrated with flying star and label it as fake is because they have failed to understand the deeper part of 2nd portion of this verse or reduce flying star to merely a divination tool.

How do we want to understand the numbers? Most will know or understand the individual stars like Star #1 is the Tang Lang Star which represents Intelligence star and so forth, and most, I believe also knows about the 81 combination of stars. This you can find on the bookshelfs any major bookstores. A little difference in the meaning from different authors but more or less you can find it quite easily. This is rather an easy task for basic level. Finally to understand the deeper meaning one has to be adept in knowledge of Yi Jing or I-Ching.

Understanding seems an easy task! Not really, but let’s put this question aside for a moment and move on to the next part & that is how to apply the numbers then we come back to understanding later. And yes application is the most tricky & critical part.

To illustrate, I take the example of a room layout I posted in Facebook couple of days back to keep things less complicated. Can you spot the 4 sets of numbers? This is where the major difference between authentic Flying Star and the general Flying Star readily available in the market. This is what sets apart the effectiveness between Wu Chang and other Shen School of Flying Star (common Flying Star).

If you can get this 4 sets of numbers correct, you do not have to worry about the colors of your room nor mirrors affecting your bedroom’s feng shui. So this is the 1st important lesson that Master Jiang is trying to tell us. Internal Feng Shui is inferior to the effects brought by the numbers in the 9 palaces

In authentic Flying Star, you can also makes a difference to the feng shui of the room by changing the Qi of the room door. Knowing the Qi of the room’s door is a concept known by most practitioners but what they don’t know is that the Qi is dynamic and not static. This is the advance concept of Wu Chang Flying Star.

So, if one does not understand the numbers thoroughly, how can one change the Qi correctly & effectively?

This is important as each number adds a layer of information to your flying star. Once you know it then you can better improve your bedroom feng shui for example.

If one superimpose the chart onto the house using 8 pie or 9 grid, knowing exactly the Qi inside each room is a challenge especially when you see a line dividing a room. This reduces the chance of getting one set of the numbers correct.

So by not knowing the full sets of numbers, one is already missing the vital link in understanding what is going on in the room, why this person had an accident last month and so forth and this is the 2nd lesson we ought to learn.

Therefore, correct understanding the numbers and in it’s application is indeed a daunting task for the commoner Flying Star and it is no wonder the Feng Shui works at times and don’t work on other times.  And the reason behind is simply because they cannot predict the house and if something has gone bad, how can they explain. Blame the mirror, the toilet bowl behind, the beam on top or lamp post? If something good happens then how they explain? The Bazi is good, the wealth vase did the job, or last weekend he move the furnitures or the new aquarium ‘activated’ the qi?

Summing up, the few important points to capture is Internal Feng Shui is not important compared to the effects from the Stars and having the correct understanding of the numbers in the 9 palaces and how it is applied can allow one to properly set a strong house feng shui so it can sustains good feng shui over the longer term.

In fact, there are more layers into telling the 9 numbers in the 9 palaces but for now I hoped you have enjoyed this posting.

Date Selection Series…Violating San Sha

Here was a coffee shop (Malaysian English) that I went about 3 months ago as it was a new outlet and so I thought of giving it a try.

The soup seafood noodle was good and was wondering why business wasn’t that good. So I asked the owner, when did he open the shop?. Casually, he answered “Last month, maybe the business is new so not many knows of my place.” Wow, as if he knew what I was thinking!.

This morning as I pass by the shop thinking of going back to have the noodle again this is what I saw:

Asked the neigbouring shop & they told me the business was poor and so the owner decide to call it quits for now. I hope he had not suffered big losses.

This is one of the many cases of businesses failing or doing medioarce as they have violated the fundamentals of NO-NOs in Feng Shui. San Sha is one of the Destructive forces that any house or business should avoid and this is usually done during the Feng Shui Audit. Possible ways to minimise the effect is by proper Date Selection but this kind of dates that can minimise San Sha is very few available in a year. By the time you have decided you may have passed that auspicious date!.

Technically, where is San Sha? Sha Sha changes every year and month according to the Earthly Branches of the Year or Month. For example, in 2012 San Sha is in the South and for the month of July, San Sha goes to the West. You may visit my Monthly Feng Shui Category to see where it is every month.

The major difference between Wu Chang schools and other schools is how much is the area the San Sha covers. Though some schools are slowly changing their concepts to follow us, nonetheless, many of the schools outside still practice the ‘misunderstood’ concepts.

Unknowingly, you may have violated San Sha but not knowing it and you wonder why despite all the activation still the results is medioare.

Lastly, my advice to the ever enthusiastic entrepreneurs and who also believe in Feng shui, please view (feng shui) the property first before you seal the deal. Having destructive energy that haunts your business for life isn’t a pretty experience. Take time to plan and select a good property. Either you have the time luxury to wait or get on that is free from all destructive energies.

Better still learn up this skill and save your heartaches for life.

Have a great weekend!

Exposing the myth of Flying Star: Flying Star Landforms

This is one of the series of exposing the myth of Flying Star that many “generalized” Flying Star practitioners are talking about.

At Art of Destiny, we view Flying Star Feng Shui at a Different & Deeper level simply because we teach Authentic Feng Shui.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Today I have picked one simple myth…most practitioners will say that flying star can only be applied internally to a house while externally you have to apply or check using other  land forms studies or methods such as San He. This is matching internally out. Then some will say you have to first look at the Gua Qi (8pie or 9 grid chart) of the Li Fa (land forms) 8 sectors and correspondingly matching with external land forms. This is a very simplistic way of looking at land forms.

The truth is, Flying Star is all about land forms from start to the end; but they way of viewing land forms is not by matching internally or externally in but “matching” them. If you don’t understand this then you are missing something major in the study of San Yuan Xuan Kong Flying Star. You will not able to built a good Feng Shui house consistently because land forms is not merely looking for Mountain and Water. When you can “match” them, the house Feng shui will be strong. Then you can look to set the rest of the formation for wealth, promotion, relationship , health and etc.

Yours truly,

Exposing the Myth of Feng Shui: 8 Pie or 9 Grid?

Scenario: One of the most hotly debated question of the century, which is the correct method 8 Pie or 9 Grid?

The Myth: They arguably say is 8 pie as 9 grid is not so accurate because it can consider the missing sectors and that Qi comes from 8 direction & that flying stars have only 8 pies and not 9 squares. The center is only necessary to calculate the chart. Then each pie works up to the center.

Then supporters of 9 grid believe this is the correct method according to the Lo Shu 9 Grid. They say this is the more accurate method to describe the Qi in the rooms since most rooms or houses are square.

What happens if the line cuts across the door or room? So the room has 2 or more Qi?

Here is one example…so what is the Qi for the dinning room?   Take a guess!

Then how do you judge which Qi is prevailing? by guessing?, they co-exists simultaneously? or by which sector is larger ?.

Points to Ponder: Do ancient China has fine pencil or protractor to make the 8 pie possible?  Have you ever seen in any feng shui classics example of a 8 Pie house layout? They exist today because the earlier authors through their limited knowledge profess that they have understood from books that this is the way to do it. Who is to verify that understanding?

The Truth: Both are incorrect. In real Flying Star Feng Shui there is no such thing. All these questions arise as they have not got the missing link as taught by Shen Zhu Ren in his book of Shen Shi Xuan Kong.

The real art is Compartmentalize. By compartmentalizing, each room only has 1 Qi & best of all you don’t need to draw lines. Just walking around the house you can already tell the feng shui, no need to make judgement or guess or lay 2 chart and compare or get your feng shui sometimes work sometimes not. This is the correct Feng Shui methodology.

In CAFS, we teach authentic Flying Star Feng Shui as founded by its founder of San Yuan Feng Shui and handed down through our lineage till today.

Case Study, Feng Shui

Case Study…

I will share with readers a real case I have done some years back in Malaysia. (Some details of the house plan has been simplified.)

Before you proceed, Warning! this article is only for open minded people.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First, some brief background of the owner. They (couple) moved in about 4 years prior to my audit. Eversince then, the husband faced stressed month after month and soon developed some form mental sickness in the form of depression. By the time I  was called in, he just got a retrenchment notice 3 months ago and still couldn’t find a job. Most intereviews has turned out to be futile.
During the 2nd year the wife had a also an audit on the house but without much result though the Master recommended some remedies. Still things did not get better but the fee was cheap…
Here is the simplified sketch of the floor plan.
Without a doubt the former consultant is also using Flying Star, since my client who is also a feng shui enthusiast, she had some discussions with the former consultant. OK, Now we can study the difference.
The first 3 basic steps in any feng shui audit when using flying star is always the same:
1. Determining the Period of this House.
2. Determine the Facing of the House.
3. The Art of taking direction of the House.
Nothing Fancy, no high level techniques, one can tell what will happen in the house while the other no.
My result is on the right side on the chart and anyone who has some idea of flying star will automatically know 52 will bring what kind of energy into the house.
The consultant mentioned that because the NW sector was missing, the head of the house will not do well. I know this is the ‘usual’ knowledge. The problem was how do you account for the wife’s down turn too?
So the point I strongly stress here is learning from the right school is very very important or getting a consultant from the right school will tell you what you can expect from that house. As you can see there were no special instruments or advance theory applied. Just 3 basic steps and you see the difference.
Feng Shui is part of the remedy to a person’s destiny and Feng Shui has to be able to predict what will happen in the house. If not then don’t bother about Feng Shui.
There will be many people who will tell you, it is due to his bazi/destiny mainly, some will say other parts of the house is causing this problem, or even some will say the house has a bad internal layout or bad external landforms, some will to the extent and say it is his bad deeds or that feng shui is not true art…..
All this is because they don’t know !
So what happens next?
After some discussion they decided to shift out as they are too cash strap to perform required renovations & so I recommended some temporary measures to help make that switch easier and one of it is to remove the stove since they dont cook.
3 weeks onwards later he got a few job interviews and then the husband found a well paid job and now life is back to normal. They sold this house for a stunning record that all 3 real estate agents say in the beginning that it was not possible.
So again the key message I would like to pass on is that learning and getting the right knowledge is important. Then you are able to read houses correctly all the time and not having the frustration why some cases work and some cases not. If you are serious about this art, acquire the right knowledge.
Same advice if you are looking for a consultant. Don’t bother the price first. That will be the last thing to worry. What is the point if he is cheap but cause all the problems later which will cost you heartaches and money again? I have seen too many of these kind of cases. I am not advocating that you must come to me but the point is know his school, the lineage or get referrals from successful cases.
Perhaps as what is mentioned in the Classics is true that not everyone can have the affinity to acquire the help of authetic Feng Shui?
FengShuiMastery, XKDG
TeaTalk: Recently concluded XKDG Course.
After the recent concluded Xuan Kong Da Gua Feng Shui (XKDG) course, I was at Wanli Bookstore the other day in Singapore browsing the many Feng Shui Books there, and most books I see the Grand Master’s Tan Yang Wu photo there and somehow associated with him, if what many claims his theories has flaws then why so many authors takes him as reference? Isn’t it contradicting?
Like the saying goes, “You don’t know what you don’t know, only may speculate”, True or true?
The fact remains that Wu Chang Secrets are much sought after by many including seasoned practitioners.
So what are the highlights this round? Nice is what I can say for few reasons;
I made new friends from different cultures and mind you they are really committed. They will through shrubs and hills to learnt. No nicely pave routes or cleared lands a.k.a. as celebrity feng shui tours. You will see things you cannot see else where, how past masters built graves and they apply it.
Learnt to understand how XKDG can working withing the San Yuan system of Feng Shui, how to apply XKDG to get what we want, may it be wealth, relationship, child or even academic studies.
Do you know that XKDG can be applied to various items but which and what are the items?
What is a “Water mouth” ? As opposed to conventional believe of what a water mouth is, Master Leyau explained the real application of water in XKDG.
How do you sight the Mountain hexagram?
In Flying Stars, if you have meet a bad star, has bad landforms and you cannot do any other changes and doesn’t want to shift, we can have a last trick to remedy it..Isn’t it great to have learned this method?
Now you will know why not all family enjoy good feng shui and not all gets the bad effects from the house! Please don’t use San He, Ba Zhai or Bazi/ZWDS to explain. If you need to explain using other systems or methods, you need to attend this course, seriously.
Master Leyau helped students to put the entire bits and pieces together from Stars to Lines into a complete San Yuan systems of Feng Shui. Now the big picture is formed! 感恩师父。
Xuan Kong Da Gua Feng Shui Course…20-23 October in Singapore
The time has come…this important course of XKDG from Central Academy of Feng Shui.
XKDG is an important skills that all feng shui practitioner needs to acquire.
It is akin to a Specialist Doctor because the ability to apply this knowledge can bring out specific “treasures”.
Let me share with you a recent real case of XKDG application. In this specific case, it was used in conjunction with Yin Zhai (feng shui of the deceased) & XKDG Date Selection. It can also be applied to Yang Zhai or Living House feng shui.
Read on to this link…Power of XKDG.
Do you see how it ties up ? I extract portions of the note here…” Her tomb measurements are Parent Hex of 4 / 1 on 6yao. This is particularly good for people who are holding respectable positions and will thus be able to gain support from people.”
Nevermind for the moment if it was a concidence or not…This tomb was done in 1965, with that in the coming years after, it benefited President Tony Tan. From there on his career took off.
So some would argue that it was due to his Destiny chart (Bazi) but any honest practitioner will know that with the help of Good Feng Shui, life will surely fly faster and further BUT it only happens IF one had acquired the RIGHT knowledge.
With the Right knowledge, you can consistently and systematically find the treasure box.
If you are serious about taking your feng shui skills to another level, this is the school you should learn from. Come and open up the “treasures” with CAFS.
For more enquires, please email fengshuimastery@hotmail.my. If we have enough students, we may conduct the course in Kuala Lumpur.
