Lineage

When l first stepped into the world of Feng Shui when I started to learn from my first Master, I was told by many that there are lineages in some schools while some say it is not necessary to learning this art. Until today after many years, I still hear this strongly debated subject in forums.

So I have chosen to write about it and the reality today.

A little back ground information of what is being meant by having a Lineage. Lineage means you have an ancestry in certain knowledge. In feng shui, means you have masters or grand masters who transfer knowledge down from generations to generations.

Traditionally, Chinese only hand over knowledge to sons or indoor disciples and they in turn pass it down to their own children or in door disciples. Masters of those days believe that only the privilege or those with affinity can acquire this art. The reason is because the art can harm, turn the fortune or to distinguish one from the others.

But then what is an Indoor disciple? An Indoor disciple is a student who had undergone tea ceremony to admit and to formally express their willingness to follow rules of the lineage. Ancient Chinese people has this bondage with the master whom they treat like their father. In return, the master teaches the disciple the knowledge so they can be proficient in the art they are mastering. This is not exclusive to Feng Shui, it applies to being a cook to studying medicine or martial arts.

In parts of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, this is being practiced. Here is a photo courtesy of Master Issac Chung during the tea ceremony with his Master Lui Hart Ming.

Master Leyau ( Retirement)

To all my friends and students,

It was indeed 30 years ago that I came into this “River Lake” Jiang Hu 江湖. Had I known then what a Big wave and small wave might have trembled a headed of me,I would rather be a chef than a Feng Shui master.

Some of you may have noticed that a few years ago, I started working more hours, and I started taking fewer days off. Back then I was getting ready for retirement.

Knowing you is my biggest harvest in my journey into the world of Chinese Metaphysics. Perhaps everything or everyone has their own destiny and one of mine is to learn under you.

In the field of Feng Shui, you have guided me and open my horizon beyond my imagination. I always translate Russian to English and it always translate as Wizard Leyau. Perhaps it was how the Google translate it but for me it is the most appropriate word to describe you. Indeed, Sifu you are a Wizard of Feng Shui. For this simple reason, I always feel blessed no matter how bad is my day.

In life, you taught me and showed me how to make good food and I have enjoyed every moment of it. You are always generous with your wisdom.

After Class, the Heineken Times were fun and fill of laughters. Every minute worth remembering.

If I have regrets, it is because I have known you a little late. So much yet to learn from you.

Case Study, Feng Shui

Feng Shui Remedy That Went Wrongs

This is an interesting case that I want to share with students of Feng Shui.

There was this Master who graduated from two celebrity schools. One from Malaysia and one from Canada who offers online Feng Shui courses. This Master Feng shuied a house and after a few years staying in the house, the family member was diagnosed with critical illness.

Student’s Dilemma

Many a times I hear student telling me why they almost give up Feng Shui altogether.

This is a common trend since early of the millennium, Feng Shui was “opened” to the public by several celebrity masters. During that period almost everyone with some curiosity in Feng Shui would like to join in the band wagon with either the hope of becoming Feng Shui Masters like them or would simply be part of the mysterious society of metaphysics.

Testimonial From Students…

Another feedback from student – Victoria Karakuts, Ukraine
Victoria Karakuts
From the bottom of my heart I wish to thank the Master Francis Leyau for all that he did for us. He was able to not only invest in our own unique knowledge and experience, but also to give us a piece of your heart for a while making your house – our house surrounded us truly warmth and fatherly care. While in his house do you feel it is not just a student, and part of his family, a part of his life.
A bonus to courses on the Yin Feng Shui, San Yuan Qi Men and Er Zhai (Advance Flying Star) was still learning to be human, to be the right person to be worthy of the knowledge gained.

Special thanks to Master for his pupil and partner Oksana !
Fundamentals, which she laid us did a course Masters much simpler and clearer.
It is precisely because of her enthusiasm and superb organizational skills Knowledge of Malaysia are far closer to the Russian expanses.
You are a good master and will always remain in my heart and soul!

the one who does not understand – must visit! ”

From Russia with Thanks – Svenlana Grigoryants
Qi Men Dun Jia – San Yuan & Yin ZhaiSvenlana Grigoryants (S)

It is my deep conviction that this course is unique simply because …
First, it is in itself a discovery that in addition to the system Qi Men Dun Jia, which we have long been studying pertaining to school San He, there is also the Qi Men Dun Jia School of San Yuan. I think it is for this discovery – for the fact that your understanding of Qi Men Dun Jia admitted another coordinate system, and your world is suddenly out of a flat two-dimensional, it can be said Master deepest thanks! This realization is a struggle. About as well as to believe in the existence of your antipodes on the other end of the planet: like you understand that they too exist, but it’s hard to keep in mind both.

Second, the wizard guides you through all the complexity and “pitfalls” of awareness of the new system of Qi Men Dun Jia San Yuan available with clarity and simplicity. He even came up with his disciples convenient digital code that we all learned as a mantra.

Thirdly, it seems to me that to realize the value and depth obtained from the Master of this new unique knowledge we all need time. As for the good of good wine. Because those who used to refer to the practice of Qi Men Dun Jia consumer-as the method of choice in the direction of the desired day and the right time, Qi Men Dun Jia San Yuan seem still further icing on the cake, baked from formulas to select dates. In fact, all tested by practice, as is always the master. The practice of using this valuable new unique knowledge of San Yuan Qi less I think, is not just a kind word makes us think of our Master and say again – THANK YOU!

Yin zhai feng shui

Yin Zhai Feng Shui (陰宅凤水)

Yin Zhai or Burial Feng Shui is one of them most intriguing part of Feng Shui since all Feng Shui studies originate from here.

The most famous classic book of all times is the Book of Burial by Master Guo Pu of the Jin Dynasty.

The study of Yin Feng Shui is extensive but primarily is the study of land forms but all these study of land forms in the end is to explain 2 words and that is Feng Shui. Then from here the application portion has seen many schools practicing differently. There are masters from the San He school, San Yuan school and even masters using 8 Mansion and Bazi Feng Shui method to bury the deceased. Some even use symbolic method like building a lion on the grave. All of them emphasize different aspects of burial.

Example, how & where they place the Guardian God (后土) is different between San He and San Yuan schools.

It is in the Chinese culture as well in the practice of Feng Shui that if you bury the deceased in the right location and direction, the descendants can proper to have riches and power. If bury on the wrong land, accidents, poor health and jail terms can happen to the descendants  How true is it, to many folks remains a mystery but to those who have witness it’s results understands how it works.

I had the privilege to follow Master Francis Leyau in one of the recent class on Yin Zhai (April 2013) and undoubtedly there are many knowledge one must possess to be able to obtain the result of the burial. From land selection, finding the dragon, the neck, the head & the lair (穴) is indeed not easy. Just erecting the head stone alone, there are so many factors to take care and look into it.

It was interesting when Master Leyau explains how and why ancient Chinese built graves in this way as opposed to modern graves as shown on the photo on the right side which is square. There is a meaning based on the study of Feng Shui why round graves are preferred.

Traditional Grave vs Modern Grave

Here are some photos from the trip:

Yin Zhai

The Journey of Feng Shui is indeed like a journey of 1000 miles but if you find the right master you can cut your journey by half but you still have to walk 100 miles first to find the master. This is just a metaphor based on my experience. Feng shui is a subject that you need a real Master to guide and show you how to tie what is written in the Classics to actual practical. Only a master who has walked the distance can show you the right from wrong.

I considered my self lucky in this sense to have met and learnt from Master Leyau. I have seen so many people that have given up Feng shui because they have not been able to learnt the correct method and hence either did not get the results or half the time works and the other half don’t. Some after learning 10 years had to get other services to correct their Feng shui after their business failed. Isn’t it sad that they cannot even get their Feng Shui correct after spending all the years and money learning from their masters ?

This problem primarily comes from 2 major sources. One either the master is too young and had not done enough audits and practical work or they themselves read from the books or so called self studied masters. You can buy plenty of books cheaply in Hong Kong and Taiwan if you could read Chinese. The worst author are those who reads many books and compile them into a 3rd books. The source of knowledge is completely untraceable. This is very dangerous since they cannot tell what is right from wrong, they just assumed that their understanding of the classic is correct.

81 Combination in Flying Star

Almost all who studied Flying Star Feng Shui will know or heard of the 81 combinations. The 81 combinations comes from pairing the Sitting Star with the Facing Star. Here you will see an example of a combination read as 6 1 combination.

61 comboTechnically in Flying Star system, the top left corner is where the Sitting Star located while the Top Right hand corner is where the Facing Star is located. By convention we read the combination based on Sitting Star + Facing Star and thus why this is called a 6 1 combination.

But how do we actually interpret the flying star chart using the combinations?

There are many ways or methods to read the combinations but the pre-requisite is to first be able to link these correct sets of numbers to the house. By this I mean, how do you relate a 6 1 and 1 6 to a house. They can be different in meaning depending on the formation of landform surrounding the house. Good or Bad is all from there.

If one cannot do that then, those numbers are just a set of number as they cannot relate the house to reality.

Then if one can relate the correct sets of numbers according to real flying star methods, surely you can tell what is happening in the house. With this information, then a San Yuan Feng Shui Master can change the fortune of the occupants. In a way, having the correct understanding of the 81 combination is vital to any Master to have success in the cases.

Many people ask me how do I remember all the 81 combination because to them it seems almost impossible if not a long tedious process. I can do it only after finishing my class with Master Francis Leyau. Amazing? I can only say I found a brilliant Master who knows how to make things simple to remember but more importantly it is because it is founded on correct theories. When the theory is correct, then everything becomes clear. Simply put it, there is a short cut to remembering it.

Here is one student specifically talking about this in his testimonial…

Master Alan, first I would like to thank you for the 4 days course, the way you teach was easy to follow and understand. Never before I would think I can remember the 81 combination. I can also see my house from the combinations easily. The case study was also good. I can now understand how actually feng shui is really done. Again Big Thank you Master!

Peter Ong

Here is an interesting question, actually in reality there is only 80 possible combinations since 1 set is missing. Which is the missing combination? You can check all the 9 period chart and 1 combination is missing.

Then why this mission combination exist in the 81 combinations? Is it just for sake of completeness ? It exists because in WuChang we can have this combination.

When you plot the flying star chart automatically you will find 8 usable combinations of numbers, however in Wu Chang School we have additional sets of numbers which allow us to tell more things than other schools & thus have a more deeper understanding of the house.

In addition to that, interpretation of the 81 Combinations can also come from one of these Feng Shui Classic books of Xuan Ji Fu , Fei Xing Fu, Zi Bai Jue and Xuan Kong Mi Zi .

To be able to interpret from these 4 major classics of Xuan Kong, one needs to understand how the classics are written but importantly the hidden meaning behind it. There are many people who attempt to interpret it from the academic point of view but somehow mostly are in accurate. When you put them together somehow they will contradict somewhere.

Apart from those methods listed above, there is another way of interpretation of these numbers and it is by the application of Yi Jing. Using Yi Jing we can convert the 81 numbers into Hexagram and interpret the numbers accordingly.

For example, if you have the hexagram Lei Feng Heng, XKMZ says one will certainly by hurt by knife while Fei Xin Fu says will have abnormal secret affair.

Converting to hexagram will give additional layer to understanding the 81 combination. For example you have a 2 5 in the house. Which will happen compared to if you have a 5 2.? Conventional methods will say they are about the same but in actual fact there will be a difference. The key is in the hexagram.

Next, when will the event happen? Sshhh….secret…
