Tracing Our Lineage

San Yuan 三元 has many schools and sub schools of feng shui theories and we from the Wu Chang 无常流 lineage has been particularly lucky that we come with a strong tradition of practicing what is truly feng shui at it’s core unlike many schools that mix other systems into their practice.

We are also very contrast to majority of the practitioners that talks about lucky item feng shui which is so off track from traditional feng shui.

This is why our audit cases have yielded high success rates over the years and generations from our Grand master’s time.

Today I was with an old friend, from the same school Kevin Chan to trace back our roots and trying to understand deeper how did our grand masters did their cases in real and not just from the books and illustrations.

This is an experience of a different level. To be there on site studying the surrounding land formation.

The temple is divided into 2 parts. One was the old library that is Sitting South facing North and some quarters while later in the 70’s the larger temple was constructed but instead it was Sitting East facing West.

Both feng shui was advised by Grand Master Yen Pen. Yes Yen Pen passed away in 1957, the same year Malaysia gotten it’s independence from the British Empire. He was cremated here.

Master Yen Pen briefly met Master Sui Ming here when Yen Pen was old and needed to return to Kek Lok Si temple in penang and while waiting for the new abbot to arrive, Master Sui Ming was assigned here to relief him.

It was here that through discussion then they found out that they have know one person, Grand master Tan Yang Wu 談養吾. Master Tan is the sifu of Sui Ming and Yen Pen met Tan Yang Wu back in China and did some exchange as they are both from the same sect of Wu Chang.

Then later Sui Ming went back to Johor Kuan Yin temple. This brief encounter, perhaps is indeed a heaven arrangement? Later Master Sui Ming became the teacher of my teacher Master Francis Leyau Yoke Sai 刘育才. Master Leyau acquired the Xuan Kong Ben Yi or popularly known as Liu Fa method from master Sui Ming.

The new temple was constructed based on Yen Pen’s advice. This temple is famous in this town and most of the abbots there lived well passed 80 years of age. Why that particular angle of West ?

Only in 2020 that they managed to built a multi story pagoda for the columbarium.

Unfortunately for this temple, there is no more resident monk who knows how to read Feng Shui anymore. This is sad because feng shui can help reduce many problems for their devotees.

As Buddhist, they are not to indulge into feng shui, although the Buddha has never forbid the practice of astrology, He discouraged it because He wanted man to shape their future through cultivation of good Karma. This is the same as Buddha himself never forbidden the consumption of meat.

Anyway this is not a debate on religion but rather good Feng Shui practice is lost because most grand masters were monks. Yen Pen, Hong Chuen and Sui Ming were all monks. They had the mission of cultivation through merits and not to alter the karma of other people. This people should suffer according to their past karma and that they should cultivate good karma to get out of suffering forever into Nibbana.

Master Sui Ming has a medicated oil formula that he later sold the formulation. 三宝风油

As a result, the good knowledge of feng shui is almost terminated.

However, I hold a slightly different view. My view is Nature left us this art is to help those that has affinity and those who are lucky enough and manage to learn it, is able to help themselves. Lets say you have enough good Karmic points, you will not suddenly be cured of your sickness nor will a bag of gold drop from the sky or appear beside you when you wake up.

Its always through a doctor or a friend who refers you or a nobleman who got you a job etc. that help you turn your fortune around.

Thus it is the same mechanism. Once you change your energy of your house, your fortune will slowly turn around. Then you have to learn to be satisfied or have gratitude, for if you don’t, you will be again accumulated bad deeds because of greed, anger, anxiety and impatience etc. Heaven only give us one chance.

I then had the chance to ask the local nun if the claim that in 2019 many monks died there as claimed by an old master from Kedah, she denied this and told us no such thing and that this old man was sensationalizing.

When good knowledge is lost, fake knowledge will proliferate, this is law of Yin Yang. When there are no cops, thieves will thrive. When fake knowledge thrives, people suffers.

Sad but nothing much I can do since I am alone and with Kevin. I hope my students will promote Wu Chang. Fingers crossed that this good art will not die in the future.
