Water Methods – Hey! Water Where Are You Heading To?.

Some time back, I was on a Feng Shui consultation on a new house and the owner after the audit was chit chatting with me about feng shui and slowly he pull me into a conversation that I did not know it was going to be interesting.

Apparently, he has house not far away where he was staying for a few years already. He said the previous celebrity master who audited his house advised him to sell the house since it is not good. It will result in havoc and loss of money. So out of curiosity, I asked if I can see it.

He brought me to his house and indeed in front of the house, there is a drain flowing in the direction as shown below. The house is facing South and the direction of the water is coming from the East side and then curving out to SW direction. He recalled that the master mentioned something “…..Bad Later Heaven Water….”.

But I was surprised because according to my knowledge, this outgoing water is supposed to bring him good financial results. It sounds stupid but I asked anyway to confirm if he did better since he stayed in this house. Affirmatively, he answered a resounding “Oh, Yes but it got me worried initially after what he said…..”

WaterMethod

I am curious what is this Later Heaven Water is and thus I did some research with my fellow practitioners and later concluded that this master is probably using what is known as Dragon 8 Gate Formation. According to the this theory Later Heaven water governs Wealth & Career matters and hence receiving Water is considered auspicious while water leaving from this sector will be taken as losing wealth.

Within the Dragon 8 Gate Formula there are many Water structures to be considered and they are namely classified into:

  • Early Heaven Water
  • Later Heaven Water
  • Heavenly Robber
  • Earth Punishment
  • Court Robber
  • Water Reservoir
  • Host Position
  • Guest Position etc…

Basically, the this method is concerned about from where the water flows in & passing by Ming Tang (Bright Hall) and in which direction it flows out to determine if this is auspicious or not.

A brief analysis of the house is as follows:

A Client house sitting on Kan sector (which means it Faces South) and has water going out at SW sector.

According to Dragon 8 Gate, Later Heaven water is only auspicious when the flow is In-coming to the door. If the flow of the water is Out-going then divorce, poverty and financial struggle will happen.

Fortunately, none of those that mentioned above has happened after 5-6 years of living in the house.

Surprisingly, their financial position has improved since staying in this house, claimed the owner.

What can we conclude from this analysis? Is Feng Shui a bullshit thing? Could the celebrity master have missed out something?

Be Aware

The point to take home is there are many methods in feng shui outside but to an unfamiliar lay person, this can be quite daunting. How can we tell which is correct or who is authentic? I have to admit there is no easy way. Just like a subject on metaphysics, there is no clear way to identify this and sometimes the safer way is either by word of mouth or sometimes by affinity/ a hunch.

I have observed how most would go about choosing a Feng Shui Consultant, we can see some logic behind why is this happening. Most people today choose their Feng Shui consultants based on popularity or the number of Radio show or TV show or Newspaper article they go or published.

TV and Radio Stations or magazines operators are just like most lay people, their are in the business of distributing news and so they go to those easily found sources since they just wanted a program on air but they themselves are in no way able to ascertain the depth and authenticity of the person’s knowledge.

Again, people are also clouded by the fact that the wider range of knowledge the consultant has, the better he is. This is certainly a debate between having Breath or Depth. Which is more important? It depends on the field one is talking about but my take is, in a highly subjective field like Feng Shui, depth is more important.

I hope you have enjoyed this share of my story.
