Cashier Placement And Business Losses

Here is another article shared on Wargabiz.com, business portal.

Here I have another more recent example on top of what was shared in the business online magazine portal.

The Smelly Tofu Shop That Didn’t Survive Period 9

At the end of 2025, a smelly tofu shop quietly closed its doors.

On the surface, it looked like just another business casualty—something not uncommon in today’s economy. But this case was different.

This shop had already survived one of the toughest periods in recent history—the pandemic. Yet, it could not survive what came after.

That was when my client approached me.

They were considering renting this very same shop, but something didn’t feel right. The previous business wasn’t just any operator—it came from a reputable lineage of smelly tofu from Taman Connaught. With a strong recipe and established branding, failure was unexpected.

So the question was simple:

What went wrong?

A Closer Look at the Premise

The shop sits in a Sitting East, Facing West (卯山酉向) orientation.

At first glance, nothing seemed overly alarming. But as always, Feng Shui is not about surface appearances—it is about timing, structure, and Qi flow.

I assured my client not to worry.
“We will address this in the audit,” I told them.

But to understand the present, we must first look at the past.

Why It Survived the Pandemic

The business started in 2019, just before COVID-19 hit.

Despite the odds, it managed to survive until the end of 2025. That alone tells us something important.

It survived because it was operating during Period 8 (八运)—a time when the Qi supporting this premise was still strong.

Even though there were underlying issues, the Main Door energy was favourable, strong enough to draw in customers and sustain the business through difficult times.

In Feng Shui, this is a classic case of good timing compensating for structural flaws.

What Changed in Period 9?

Everything changed in 2024.

With the transition into Period 9 (九运), the quality of Qi shifted.

And this is where many people misunderstand Feng Shui.

Feng Shui is not static.
It is not something you “set once” and expect it to work forever.

When the Period changes, the energy changes.

Some properties adapt well.
Others—like this shop—do not.

By the end of 2025, after nearly two years of struggle, the business could no longer hold on.

The Hidden Problem: Qi Flow

Let’s simplify this without going too technical.

The shop is located along a one-way street, where traffic flows from left to right relative to the shop.

For this specific formation, that flow is unfavourable.

The ideal Qi movement should come from the opposite direction—right to left.

Instead of receiving supportive energy, the shop was being hit by Sha Qi (destructive energy).

This is something many business owners overlook.

They focus on:

  • Good food
  • Strong branding
  • Attractive décor

But ignore the most fundamental factor:

👉 How Qi enters and moves through the space

Feng Shui is not about lucky cats or symbolic items.

It is about Qi flow.

The Cashier Table That Weakened Everything

There was another critical issue—the cashier table location.

Front layout of the shop

Positioned on the right-hand side, next to a pillar and near the kitchen window, it occupied a leaking wealth sector.

Wealth Spot – The Fake Feng Shui Theory

This cashier table was placed there because of wealth spot theory in folklore system. This is easy, it’s always at the diagonal location to the door. This is not Wealth spot but a wealth leaking sector in authentic Feng Shui which the reason why its not able to help the business accumulate wealth over the years.

Even during Period 8, this was already a flaw.

But it was temporarily “covered” by the strong Main Door energy.

Once Period 9 arrived and the door’s influence declined, the weakness of the cashier position became fully exposed.

Now, combine this with incoming Sha Qi from the road…

The result?

A gradual but consistent financial decline.

The Final Struggle

Businesses rarely fail overnight.

They resist. They adapt. They fight to survive.

This shop was no different.

For nearly two years, it struggled—much like a person trying to stop a wound from bleeding. 🩸

But when the underlying Feng Shui is no longer supportive, effort alone is not enough.

Eventually, the pressure becomes too great.

And the only option left…

is to let go. 🏳️

Could It Have Been Saved?

Yes.

If the cashier table had been placed in a strong wealth position, the outcome could have been very different.

Even with external challenges, the internal structure could have helped sustain the business.

This is the power of correct Feng Shui application.

The Bigger Lesson: Timing Matters

This case highlights one of the most important principles in Feng Shui:

👉 Timing (Period) is everything.

Systems like 9 Star Feng Shui (Flying Star) excel because they account for this dimension of time.

In contrast, some systems (*San He) focus purely on landform and assume stability over long periods. But in reality:

Different time cycles bring different results.

A property that thrives in one Period may decline in the next.

A Common Misunderstanding

For decades, many people have misunderstood Feng Shui.

They associate it with folklore—江湖 practices, symbolic cures, and decorative fixes.

But real Feng Shui is none of that.

It is:

  • Analytical
  • Structured
  • Based on Qi dynamics and timing

And when applied correctly, the results are not random—they are predictable.

Word of Advice

If you are running a business—or planning to start one—do not wait until problems appear.

By then, you are already reacting.

The real advantage comes from understanding your Feng Shui before issues arise.

If you want clarity on whether your current or future premise can truly support your business in Period 9, you can reach out for a proper audit.

Because in Feng Shui, success is not just about effort.

It is about being aligned with the right time, the right place, and the right flow.
