Kek Lok Si Temple Feng Shui Part 2

Although I do not live in Penang, nonetheless, our lineage does have strong roots in Penang especially Penang Island because our Grand master Yen Pen left his mark there.

Whenever, I have Feng Shui jobs in Penang Island, I will endeavor to pay my respect to him. He left this world a wonderful art of Feng Shui to help humanity.

Master Yen Pen

Let’s go back in time from our previous article on Kek Lok Si Temple and the relationship with Flying Star Feng Shui or 9 Star Feng Shui.

Our Grand master Yen Pen’s time was during the reign of the 2nd Abbot Poon Teong. This article by Free Malaysia Today caught my attention when they were writing on the founding days of Kek Lok Si Temple under the first Abbot Beow Lean (1891 – 1906).

I quote from the article here “As Beow Lean spent more time in Penang, he noticed that the island had a large population of wealthy elder women who were interested in religion.

And after finding a hill on Air Itam that came with good Feng Shui, the monk proposed the idea of building a temple high atop greenery and had plans of collecting donations from devoted Buddhists.”

Many local masters associated this good Feng Shui to San He or popularly known as Yang Gong Feng Shui in China.

The Abbot after completing the early temple of Kek Lok Si with the donated money, eventually attracted controversy. I quote here “Not only did they accuse the monk of indulging in a sex-filled life, but also claimed that Beow Lean hosted fervent orgy parties in the alleged secret tunnels beneath Kek Lok Si’s holy grounds.

Then eventually all these gossips and rumours ended up with the Abbot suffering lots of pain…I qoute “Well, first by procuring a sharp cleaver, and second, by chopping off his nether regions with a single powerful swing of said cleaver.

After the deed was done, a profusely-bleeding Beow Lean laid in excruciating pain as he watched his genitalia lay limp in front of him. Detached and severed.”

Good Feng Shui should not have created such tragic for a founding father who’s contribution is enormous to the temple as well as the community.

By 1906, Beow Lean passed the baton to Poon Teong (1906-1938). You may read the earlier article how Poon Teong seize the timing of booming rubber demand and helped Kek Lok Si made a lot of money only later to end up in debt and lots of stress. How did Grand Master Yen Pen used his Feng Shui knowledge to save the financial woes of Kek Lok Si is in the earlier blog post.

Temples Too Are Subjected To Feng Shui

From my years of research and experience as a Feng Shui Consultant, I can say without a doubt, that temple of all kinds too are subjected to Feng shui influence. This explains why some temples do very well bustling with crowd while some struggle to survive.

If you have a bright mind, don’t you think that even Spirits have to be confined to Feng Shui while they are on earth? Thus, this begs the question, is Feng Shui a superstition or science?

My answer is ; it depends who is telling you the story of Feng Shui…..
