Burial Feng Shui

All About Grave Site Feng Shui and Sheng Ji (Life Grave) Feng Shui

Also known as Yin Feng Shui or Ancestral Feng Shui to Chinese community, it is one of the most mysterious form of Feng Shui. This is because most people cannot relate how the deceased can affect their descendants. 2000 years ago, this can only be explained using spiritual means but Feng Shui from day one has been a subject of science but one that is not easily explained or understood. Today science has advanced and at least we can tell you something that is called DNA.

What Is Yin Feng Shui?

It is known as Yin feng shui because Yin represents the deceased. Today Yin can come in various forms namely :

  1. Fresh Burial
  2. Exhumation and re-location
  3. Ash Burial in Columbarium or Niches.
  4. Ancestral Tablets
  5. Sheng Ji or Live Burial

Each format has it’s own merits and demerits but briefly why the ancients especially the Emperors has placed so much emphasis on Burial Feng Shui is not without a good reason. If the Feng Shui is done correctly it can reap many benefits for our descendants. At least this is the last thing one can do to help their children.

  • Strong Career Luck
  • Strong Wealth Inheritance
  • Academic Luck
  • Fame / Talent
  • Strong descendants line
  • Healthy off springs

What if the tomb has bad feng shui? The exact opposite will happen. We have seen descendants has terminated off springs, family members passing away in horrific ways in consecutive years, bankruptcy or termination of business legacy or ending up poor, saddled with many court cases etc.

Yin Feng Shui theory is not much different from Yang Feng Shui (residential or business feng shui) in principles. The difference lies in the form and audit methodology. Briefly the methodology involved are auditing the:

1. Incoming Dragons

This is the key and the utmost skill of the master is to be able to identify real from pseudo dragons. Dragons brings strong energy that last for many generations. Typically, emperors sent their Feng shui masters to search for real dragons before they design the Burial sites.

3. Waters & Mountains 水 和 山

Waters are known to support career and wealth while Mountains to support good health, reputation and descendant luck. Tapping the correct type of Qi will ensure the liar to prosper their descendants to reap the benefits mentioned above.

4. The Xue or Liar

This is where the best energy spot will be and the best place to built the tomb.

5. Tomb Design

This step involves the design of the tomb as well as the setting the water mouths (where applicable) and setting the Earth God.

The water mouth and Earth God has the purpose of bring additional benefits to the Xue.

6. Date Selection or Timings 择日

Some of the important activities requires good date selection to enhance its strength and hasten the good effects. This is the key strength of San Yuan system.

Sheng Ji 生基, or Life Grave Feng Shui, is a special technique where the principles of Yin Feng Shui are applied to benefit a living person.

In essence, it functions similarly to house Feng Shui — but with a crucial difference. While house Feng Shui works with environmental Qi around a building, Sheng Ji taps directly into the power of Dragon Qi from the land itself.

Dragon Qi is considered one of the most potent forms of Qi in classical Feng Shui. When properly accessed and aligned, it can have a profound influence on a person’s vitality, destiny, and life circumstances.

One of the unique aspects of Sheng Ji is its potential to help with deep-rooted conditions, including weaknesses or illnesses that have existed since childhood or are inherited within the family line.

Of course, Sheng Ji should not be seen as a miracle cure for every problem. However, when done correctly, it is believed to strengthen the Yuan Shen (元神) — the fundamental spirit or life essence of a person.

When the Yuan Shen becomes stronger, a person’s vitality, resilience, and overall luck can improve, allowing them to navigate life with greater strength and opportunities.

For this reason, Sheng Ji has traditionally been regarded as one of the most powerful yet carefully guarded practices within classical Feng Shui.

When Sheng Ji May Be Considered

There are several situations where Sheng Ji may provide meaningful support.

1. Severe or Dangerous Luck Cycles

For individuals experiencing extremely unfavorable luck — situations where life feels constantly threatened by accidents or serious misfortune — Sheng Ji can sometimes help improve the odds.

One of our clients, for example, survived a severe car accident in what can only be described as a miraculous outcome. You can read the full story in our blog.

2. Persistent Bad Luck or Obstacles

Some people seem to encounter constant setbacks in life despite their efforts. Opportunities slip away, plans fail unexpectedly, and progress becomes difficult. Strengthening the Yuan Shen through Sheng Ji may help stabilize their luck and life direction.

3. People Troubled by Petty People 🆘

Another group that may benefit are those whose lives are constantly affected by petty people (小人) — experiencing poor human relationships, unnecessary conflicts, or frequent obstacles created by others.

4. Health Challenges and Weak Vitality

Another situation where Sheng Ji may be considered is when a person experiences chronic health challenges or naturally weak vitality.

In classical metaphysics, health is closely related to the strength of one’s Yuan Shen (元神) and overall life force. When the Yuan Shen is weak, the body may also struggle to maintain balance and resilience.

By connecting to strong Dragon Qi, Sheng Ji aims to nourish and strengthen the Yuan Shen. When the Yuan Shen becomes stronger, it may help improve a person’s vitality, recovery ability, and overall resistance to illness.

It is important to understand that Sheng Ji is not a replacement for medical treatment. Rather, it is a traditional Feng Shui method that may help support the individual by strengthening their fundamental life force.

Real Cases vs Hearsay

There are many real-life cases demonstrating the impact of Sheng Ji. Some of these cases have been recorded and shared in our blog.

These are documented experiences from actual clients, not hearsay.

Unfortunately, most Feng Shui practitioners rarely share real case studies. Many discussions about Sheng Ji only focus on the ritual or reference famous individuals such as Li Ka-shing or Stanley Ho.

However, discussing famous names does not necessarily reflect real practical experience.

The Most Important Factor: Dragon Qi 🐉

A true Feng Shui Sheng Ji must tap into genuine Dragon Qi.

Dragon Qi can only be found in land formations that possess the correct geomantic structure. Without this, the Sheng Ji will have little effect.

There are also Daoist Sheng Ji practices that rely mainly on chanting, rituals, and prayers. These belong to a different tradition and are not the same as Feng Shui Sheng Ji, which depends primarily on landforms and Dragon Qi.

The Real Skill of the Feng Shui Master

The true skill of a Feng Shui master lies in identifying the correct Dragon Qi location.

Sheng Ji is not simply about burying an item in the ground. The burial must be done at the correct Dragon Qi point or Xue 穴.

This is also the reason why some people who have planted Sheng Ji see little improvement in life — and in some unfortunate cases, their situation may even worsen.

Without the correct Dragon Qi, the process becomes merely symbolic.

With the correct Dragon Qi, however, the results can be profound.

Sheng Ji Consultation

At our practice, we only perform two types of Sheng Ji.

1. Future Burial Plot Sheng Ji
This method uses the burial plot that will eventually be used by the owner upon passing. In this case, we provide the Feng Shui expertise and Sheng Ji procedure, while the land purchase and tomb arrangements are handled directly by the owner and the memorial park.

2. Dedicated Sheng Ji Mini Plot
We also maintain special mini plots dedicated solely for Sheng Ji purposes, designed specifically for this practice.

生基
Dedicated for Sheng Ji only.

What Is Needed for Sheng Ji?

Sheng Ji requires a DNA connection to the individual so that the Feng Shui influence can be directed to the correct person.

🧬 Who Can Do Sheng Ji?
In principle, anyone may benefit from Sheng Ji for the reasons explained above. However, it should be considered before situations become too severe.

It is important to remember that Sheng Ji is Feng Shui, not magic or divine intervention. It works by improving the surrounding Qi that supports a person’s destiny.

🧬 How Long Does a Sheng Ji Last?
Typically, a Sheng Ji can remain effective for around 10 years, while some may last 20 to 30 years, depending on the strength of the Dragon Qi and other Feng Shui factors.

Because of this longevity, many people consider it a long-term investment in their destiny and well-being.

🧬 Prerequisites Before Sheng Ji

In our lineage, Sheng Ji is never the first step.

The recommended order is:

  1. BaZi Destiny Analysis
  2. House Feng Shui Audit and Correction
  3. Sheng Ji (if necessary)

The BaZi reading is the first line of defense, helping us understand whether Sheng Ji is appropriate for the individual.

For this reason, Master Alan does not accept Sheng Ji requests directly if the BaZi and house Feng Shui have not been properly reviewed by our team. This ensures that the method is applied responsibly and with the highest chance of meaningful results.

📩 If you would like to explore whether Sheng Ji is suitable for your situation, please begin with a BaZi consultation with Master Alan. Further details can be discussed during the meeting.
